Mohandes Annual General Meeting 2017 was held on Wed, May 3rd at Sheraton Hotel. After the annual report by the chair and new plans/ events for future of Mohandes by the vice chair, the treasurer presented the annual financial report and was approved by the general assembly.


BOD Election 2017:


Then the election to select 4 new main directors and 4 substitute directors was conducted. The Election Supervisory Committee consisted Mr. Azima, Ms. Elahi, Mr. Kajbaf, Ms. Nabavi, Mr. Tahmoureszadeh and Mr. Zahedi. Sixty nine (69) eligible members participated in the election and the result was as below:

Short Biography:

Kambiz Afshari, P.Eng , since 1992, graduated as B.S. mining engineering , M.S. Engineering  at mining excavation, from Fanni School of Engineering, Tehran University, entrance 1966, year graduated 1972- last position in Iran, one of 5 members of board of managers at Tehran Cement Factory , left Iran in 1983 , worked in Sweden, Germany , United States , immigrated with family of 3 to Canada in 1986.
As an engineer worked at mining contractor company, as shaft captain, mining engineer till 1991 ( including own business establishment for 3 years mixed with contracting  assignments going to different contracting sites in different mines in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec.

22 years a partner and part owner of family established  drug company , owning a pharmacy , stablished a construction company up norther Ontario, since 2006. 

At present, running 3 family  companies , Drug related , rental related, cottage and home renovation construction activities.

1991-92 joined Mohandes, till present , as a member of such organization including some years as board member of Mohandes.

Joined to Fanni Alumni of Ontario, also in charge of Fanni of Canada, assigned by Fanni Organization head office in Tehran.

 Dean Aminirad

Short Biography:

I’ve graduated from University of Beheshti in Computer Engineering in 1980. I’ve started my first serious career in 1990 with City of Toronto in the field of IT as Systems Support Specialist. I worked within City of Toronto in various position as Systems Administrator, Network Administrator until 2003. From 2003 and onward I’ve been working as an IT consultant and worked for Provincial Government as a Network Engineer, Federal Government, as well as private companies such as R.J Financial, McCain Foods LTD., Shoppers Drug Mart. I’ve been working with HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) as a Chief Engineer starting beginning of 2016.

Statement of Purpose to Join Mohandes BOD:

I’ve been living in Toronto for over 27 years and been working in the field of IT for over 20 years. I understand how flustered it can get for a new comer to find their first desirable job. I’ve seen lots of ups and down in my career and know the importance of good resume, interview preparation and most importantly the self-confidence in Interview. I think this is where MOHANDES should work on seriously and find a way to help new Engineers by conducting a mock interview, resume preparation workshop and most importantly inviting motivational speakers to their monthly meeting to boost the moral between audiences.

Will volunteer 5-10 hrs/ week.


 Mohammad Azizi

   محمد عزیزی


Short Biography:

Mohamad Born on 1972. He started his study on electrical engineering on Azad university of Gonabad in 1990 and successfully graduated with A mark in 1994. He worked as senior operator on startups for INGC and Total Fina Elf and as electrical designer on consultants. His new chapter started with immigration to Canada on 2009 and after completion of internship and receiving the engineering license and also obtaining Red seal electrician licenses and Master electrician licenses established “ Emtron.Inc” as an EPC company. Later added the Training center to “Emtron” to educate new apprentices and new engineers and who may need to update his knowledge in Electrical and mechanical industry.

 Masoud Dolatabadi

Short Biography:

Masoud received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, in Iran, 1976. • The Founder & President of Dormer Homes with over 13 years of successful work experience in residential development in Canada. Currently in charge of managing several under development and construction projects in Toronto and Richmond Hill, with more than 200 units. • A successful Executive for 40 years, Masoud is able to establish, organize and manage various companies. Very competent in attracting investors and negotiating favourable financial deals for the Company. Highly respected and trustworthy due to his prosperous returns with previously completed projects. • Involved with Kanoon Mohandes since 2006. He holds the position of substitute member of the Board of Directors since 2016. • A Gold sponsor to charity and family activities organized by the Town of Richmond Hill. Recognized by the Councillor for his contributions. • A member of BILD (Building Industry and Land Development Association). • A strong supporter of the Co-op Iranian student program. Short Biography:

I graduated in Electrical Engineering major in Electronic in 2008, I worked as a Technical Support in Navid Oil Khalij-e-Fars. After my immigration to Canada, I've got familiar with Mohandes Organization via Access Employment within 6 months. Now I am working as a Team leader/Technical liaison in Manufacturing company. In addition, I am in middle of Professional Engineer process.


Highlights of Previous Volunteer Works:

I was volunteer in Mohandes Expo 2015 and in Yalda ceremony 2015 and 2016. Moreover, I assisted registration in Mohandes monthly meetings.

Statement of Purpose to Join Mohandes BOD:

I would like to promote Mohandes to newcomer engineers to help educated Iranian-Canadian society growth faster. In my opinion this such a good organization with talented members has a great potential to be known in Canadian societies more than before.

Short Biography:

Kamran Etessam was graduated with a bachelor degree in mining engineer from the Azad University – Tehran back to 1995. Kamran has moved to Canada as skill worker immigrant on 2002, and his Bachelor licensed evaluated by UofT. For a couple of years in Toronto, he was working as a CNC programmer & Master Cam. Finance and business are most topics that he likes, he was graduated from the Seneca College in mortgage field. He started his new carrier at “The Mortgage Alliance Company of Canada” as a full time job. He was continuing to study in mortgage field and at this time he is one of a few Mortgage broker in Iranian community that has received a designation of “AMP” or Accredit mortgage professional. Also he is a team leader in Mortgage Alliance and his team are working as mortgage agent/broker from Iranian & non-Iranian communities in Ontario. Top Canadian Mortgage Brokers awards that he received from the Mortgage Alliance for 6 continuously years.

Statement of Purpose to Join Mohandes BOD:

MOHANDES is one of the professional organization in Ontario. Education to build up the Iranian. New immigrant: Immigration is a big change in each immigrant’s life, it does effect emotionally and financially on each person. MOHANDES is one of the organization that has a many services for new comers, such as education, job search. More engineers more members: More engineers means more members, and more members requested more services. Developing membership package makes MOHANDES’s financially stronger. And stronger in finance brings more services. MOHANDES SHOW: Each field has their own shows and events. By MOHANDES SHOW we can bring more audience and increase members. Fundraising gala: at each community, having fundraising gala such as dinner gala is a normal way to introduce new services for a community and invite financial supports for development.

 Reza Hosseinnejad

  رضا حسین نژاد


Short Biography:

Reza Hosseinnejad is a professor of Mining engineering and he received his B.S from Tehran University, M.S from Amir_kabir University and PHD in Geochemical Exploration from China university of Geosciences. He has more than 30 years academic and extensive experience in Gold exploration and mining in various terrain and deposit types. He immigrated to Canada in 2008 and worked in Ottawa University as a researcher. From 2009 till 2016 he worked in the some mining gold exploration companies such as Queen ston, Osisko and Canadian Malartic as a project geologist in north of Ontario and Quebec. He is expert in design and implementation of exploration programs including QA/QC and subsurface detailed exploration using diamond drilling, auger drilling, test pitting and trenching. He established his consulting company WME ”word mineral exploration” in 2016.

Statement of Purpose to Join Mohandes BOD:

I respectfully submit my application to serve on the board of Mohandes. Mohandes has long history more than 28 years involvement with nonprofits organization compare with other Iranian Canadian organization. My interest in serving on Mohandes board of directors comes from my life work and like in working with people and my belief in social change. I have over 30 years of experience working in different companies and organization. I have experience in bringing together multi idea when I organize more than 350 engineers in nonprofit organization to help graduate student to get job. I would like to use major committee as a core of consultant company for newcomer and Mohandes members. I promise to bring a deep commitment to contributing to the Mohandes as it moves forward to improve with effective voice for all of Mohandes member in Canada.

 Sepideh Razi

Short Biography:

Sepideh was born in 1983 in Iran. She is an Architectural Engineer, Interior Designer, Professional Painter and Photographer. Here is the highlight of her achievements:

  • 2011    Certificate in Interior Design, Jahad University, Tehran, Iran
  • 2012    Immigrated to Canada
  • 2016    Diploma of Architectural Technology, Humber college, Toronto, Canada
  • 2014    Member of MOHANDES – Tronto- Canada
  • 2014    Achievement of Intermediate Persian Calligraphy Certification, Toronto – Canada
  • 2014    P.Eng Intern
  • 2015    Recipient of Study Scholarship from IWOO (Iranian Women’s Orientation of Ontario)

Sepideh has 12 years of  solid experience in design and architecture, and has practical knowledge of Ontario building code (OBC) as well as PEng courses that could be a great help for newcomers with Architecture background. She has strong ability to organize and schedule teams in order to meet deadlines, and budget constraints.

Sepideh has participated in many Painting and photography exhibitions since 2007. She is an avid painter and photographer and was selected for Tirgan Festival 2013 in visual arts competitions. She has also submitted some art works to Tirgan Festival 2015.

Statement of Purpose to Join Mohandes BOD:

I believe the history of 29 years is not easily created. Hard work of the founders, and devoted individuals in the past BODs have been the key factors to keep this society live and dynamic after all these years. I understand the value of this great opportunity that I can be a part of dynamic team with great minds and if I am elected with the support of members, I will try my best to have a positive impact in my role as board member. In this regard, I will help Mohandes in following fields:

  • Newcomers: Providing mentoring programs for newcomers and helping them to be adapted to Canadian work society
  • Architectural Visits: Beside the industrial visits for Engineers, arranging architectural visits will create unique opportunity for all members including Architects and Engineers to see Canada's architectural attractions.
  • More qualified members: Expanding Mohandes society in terms of number of members is a positive thing. But quality also should be considered. Members should contribute to build a powerful society and the BOD has duty to facilitate this.
  • Dynamic Events: Holding Dynamic and attractive events is one of the best way to keep current members happy and active, and also to get new active members. Members can contribute in suggesting that which programs or events they would like to participate.
